Since 2006, we have been collecting, packing, and distributing food parcels and essential supplies to families in need — week after week, year after year.
Hunger doesn't wait. Every week, without fail, our team collects, packs, and distributes food parcels to families who have nowhere else to turn.
The Food & Basic Needs program is the heartbeat of Five Plus Two Ministries. Since our founding in 2006, we have been gathering donated food, toiletries, clothing, and household essentials — and getting them into the hands of families who need them most.
Each food bag contains enough to provide approximately 50 meals, at an average cost of just R2 per meal. These are not luxuries — these are basics: maize meal, oil, sugar, tinned goods, toiletries, and whatever the community has generously donated that week.
We work with local businesses, churches, and individuals who donate surplus stock and goods. Every donation — no matter how small — is received with gratitude and distributed with dignity. No family is turned away empty-handed.

How it works
Donated food and goods are collected from businesses, churches, and individuals. Our volunteer team sorts every item and packs it carefully into bags — each containing a balanced mix of essentials.
We maintain a register of families in need across the Hartbeespoort area. Each family is personally known to us — we know their names and their stories.
Every family receives their parcel with care and respect. We believe that how you give matters as much as what you give. No one should feel shame in receiving help — only grace.

We started with almost nothing — a few boxes of donated food and a list of families. Nineteen years later we are still here, still packing, still distributing. Every week God multiplies what we have. We have never run out. Not once.

A single food bag costs approximately R100 and provides 50 meals for a family. You can donate online, or drop off food items at our collection point in Hartbeespoort.
