For many children in our community, home is not a safe place to learn. After-school care provides the structure, safety, and nourishment that make real education possible.

Through the Children's Empowerment program, Five Plus Two Ministries sponsors vulnerable children into registered after-school care facilities. Here, each child receives dedicated homework assistance, a nutritious daily meal, and the kind of structured, caring environment that helps young minds flourish.

We currently support 17 children through this program. These are children from single-parent households, families in crisis, and homes where a parent is working long hours simply to keep food on the table. For their mothers — many of whom are rebuilding their lives through Zoé House — the after-school program is not just childcare. It is the peace of mind that makes everything else possible.

The care facilities we partner with are registered and staffed by trained practitioners. Children are supervised, stimulated, and loved. They complete their homework, eat well, and play in a safe environment — returning home to their families ready for the evening ahead.

An investment in a child's early years is an investment that multiplies for generations.

How it works

Structure, safety, and support

01

Identify & Enrol

Children from vulnerable households are identified through Zoé House and community referrals. We assess their needs and enrol them in a suitable, registered after-school care facility.

02

Sponsor the Placement

Five Plus Two covers the cost of each child's enrolment and daily care. This includes supervision, homework support, structured activities, and a nutritious afternoon meal every weekday.

03

Walk Alongside Families

We stay connected with the children and their families, monitoring progress and adjusting support as needed. For the mothers, this partnership is a cornerstone of their own recovery and stability.

Lives changed

17 children with a safe place to grow

Through the after-school sponsorship program, 17 children currently attend a registered care facility each afternoon — receiving homework support, a nutritious meal, and a structured, nurturing environment. For their mothers, many of whom are working hard to rebuild their lives, this care is not just practical. It is life-giving peace of mind.
